Un coup d’œil comparatif sur d’autres villes de France nous permet d’appréhender les répercussions de cet incendie dans le cadre plus large des transformations urbaines du XVIIIe siècle. Ainsi, notre travail muséographique a pour enjeu de montrer comment ce renouveau architectural, qui reflète non seulement une réponse à la catastrophe, témoigne aussi des aspirations à un urbanisme plus moderne, fonctionnel et en phase avec les idées des Lumières.
